On Monday Infosys Ltd unveiled a financial software solution it coded for helping banks to support and serve their small and medium enterprise (SME) customers.


The global software major said in a statement :

"Our mobile-based financial and business management solution is designed to help SMEs experience banking services on the move and manage their business operations efficiently,"

Finacle SME Enable solution, allows SMEs to access their account information at real-time and also provides tools to manage their daily business operations in a self-service mode.


Infosys vice-president Michael Reh said :

"As SMEs contribute significantly to the national gross domestic product, convenient banking services and cost-efficient operations are key growth drivers for this segment," 

"Our solution will enable SMEs grow businesses through features such as enterprise setup, automated banking transactions in supply chain, credit management, social connect, integrated alerts/analytical tools for financial management, and channels to seek expert advice," 

Banks will have an opportunity to get a loyal customer base in this segment by providing digital banking solutions, along with an integrated support for their business needs.


Integration of the Infosys TradeEdge, a cloud-based retail trade platform, with the SME solution will also help SME clients obtain visibility into their inventories and sales transactions.

"For banks, this will mean a reduction in time and effort required to serve SME customers," Reh added

India's second-largest Consulting and IT services provider Infosys agreed to acquire US-based automation technology company Panaya for $200 million (over Rs 1,200 crore). This is the second-largest IT major's  acquisition ever. Previous largest was that of Zurich-based consulting firm Lodestone, bought for $345 million in 2012.

Infosys Said : 
 
"Panaya will bring automation to several of its service lines via an agile SaaS model, and helps mitigate risk, reduce costs and shorten time to market for clients."

Panaya has 156 employees and a majority of them are based in Israel. With this acquisition, Panaya joins Infosys with over 400 active customers.
Another reason the acquisition is so exciting is that its home base is Israel.It has emerged as the most concentrated area for startups and innovation after Silicon Valley.

The Board of Directors of infosis has announced  Dr. Vishal Sikka as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director (CEO & MD) of the company. Dr. Sikka will be inducted as a whole-time director of the Board and CEO & MD (Designate) on June 14, 2014. He will take over as CEO & MD from Mr. S. D. Shibulal on August 1, 2014.

     The Board has also elevated Mr. U.B. Pravin Rao, President and whole-time director, as Chief Operating Officer, with effect from June 14, 2014.

The Board also announced the following changes:
  • Mr. N.R. Narayana Murthy and Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan will voluntarily step down as Executive Chairman and Executive Vice Chairman, respectively, on June 14, 2014. In order to facilitate a smooth transition of responsibilities, they will continue on the Board till October 10, 2014 as the Non-executive Chairman and Non-executive Vice Chairman, respectively
  • Mr. K. V. Kamath will become the Non-executive Chairman of the Board on October 11, 2014
  • Mr. Murthy will be designated as Chairman Emeritus with effect from October 11, 2014 in recognition of his contributions to the company
  • Mr. S. D. Shibulal will step down as CEO & MD and from the Board on July 31, 2014
  • Mr. Srinath Batni, whole-time Director of the company, will step down from the Board on July 31, 2014
  • In addition, the company has elevated twelve leaders to the position of Executive Vice President with additional responsibilities  
Angel Broking?s VP Research Sarabjit Kour Nangra said the entry of a CEO into the company is the much awaited news as it has been searching for the chief, while facing the exodus of key employees.
