Jerry Nixon (a Microsoft employee and developer evangelist) said at the company's ongoing Ignite conference in Chicago that Microsoft will launch Windows 10 for PCs this summer will be the last windows OS version.

Reiterating the company's "Windows as a service" philosophy, Nixon said :

The Company is planning no new OS version launches in the future. "Right now we're releasing Windows 10, and because Windows 10 is the last version of Windows, we're all still working on Windows 10," he added.

He said :  Microsoft made its base for Windows 10 secretly when it launched Windows 8.1 last year, and that with Windows 10 it will be pushing out regular updates to the OS instead of introducing new versions.

Explaining how it would work, Nixon gave the example of how OS components, such as the Start Menu and the built-in apps, will be bifurcated and updated independently. Alongside, Microsoft revealed that Patch Tuesdays will be abolished, and the update cycle will be moved to a 24x7 one. Users could either opt-in for slow rollout, meaning receiving updates in bundles, or a fast rollout, where they would receive updates as soon as they are released.

Microsoft is already said to have engineered apps like Xbox, Mail and even Office for regular monthly updates in Windows 10. The results will however will be reflected after a few months. The firm has also been testing the OS with Windows Insider participants in the form of different OS version builds both for PC/laptops and mobile devices.

It is worth mentioning that while Windows 10 is due to arrive for PCs by this summer, the OS will be released for mobiles, tablets, HoloLens, and the Xbox One at some point later this year.

Today Microsoft promised to release a set of Office applications called “Universal” by the end of April for smartphones running Windows 10.
The company has a two-prong productivity strategy in place for Windows:

1. Office 2016 for desktop use,
2. For all other Windows 10 experiences.

Windows 10 experiences is a touch-focused Office Universal apps. The latter apps, according to Microsoft, will function across tablets and smartphones, dynamically changing their design to allow users to better use them based on their current screen size.

The two names for the two groups of apps are Office Desktop and Office Universal might seem a bit odd, given that the Universal apps aren’t quite designed to be. The universal tag is instead more useful in the mobile context. These are the apps you will use across Windows devices whenever you’re not at your desk typing away happily on a full-sized keyboard.

Here’s a shot of the Universal Word app, as shared by Microsoft this morning:

We’ve known for some time that the Universal applications will be free for smartphones and tablets. So, if you do test them out, you can leave your wallet at home.

Microsoft and Apple, have announced that they are planning to merge later this year. Their first project is to move all employees to a new space-based orb in order to offer services "from the space" rather than "from the cloud" like other common firms with less money.

One of the first new services to be offered will be 'Office Death Ray 365' to annihilate your competition no matter what day of the year (except leap years.)

It appears the two companies have been planning the merger since at least April 2006 when Steve Jobs announced Apple’s new “Spaceship” campus designed to take employees to the new space orb and return to the ground on annual visits where a Hunger Games-style deathmatch will be held in the centre to be the first consumer to obtain each new device.

Significant money exchanged hands in order to appease shareholders into agreeing to this move. Microsoft paid Apple $40 billion, whilst Apple paid Microsoft $40 billion. Analysts believe this significant investment will lead to even better products for customers in the future...

As part of the deal, Microsoft's hardware will now be able to sport the 'i' before their names which will add tremendous value as we've seen with Apple's devices. Initial products will include; iSurface, iLumia, and the iBox.

The iBox, in particular, is set to benefit most from the partnership. Combined with DirectX 13, MicroApple will be able to stream 8K games around the Milky Way, through Mars, and even over the Snickers wrapper from your powerful iPC to your iBox sitting a couple of meters away.

Sources inside the company tell us that Apple execs finally admitted to the Surface being a far-more versatile device than the new MacBook which doesn't even have a USB port without an adapter! The iSurface Pro 4 will, however, abandon Windows in favour of a new OS already in-creation from Apple...

The name of the OS distances itself from stunning landscapes and big cats in favour of household objects. MicrOS X v10.11 'Mug' edition features a help button which when pressed will order Starbucks to your location. Other features include; moustache-trimmer support, "pretend you’re a birdy" map mode, access to everyone's emails, and secretive brainwashing.

All current Lumia devices will morph into a fluorescent yellow “iLumianati” triangle with a single speaker through which if you listen close you can hear Siri and Cortana having a heated argument about who tells the best joke. Truly, it's the next step-forward for artificial intelligence.

What do you think about the new partnership between Microsoft and Apple? Let us know in the comments.

Custom web develpment companyRecently, preview tools for developers were finally released for Windows 10. Now With WinHEC behind it, and a mountain of information out in the atmosphere, Microsoft seems all set to push the app development train full steam ahead. Developers were also given more details on how Windows Apps will work across devices. Most importantly, Microsoft has finally nailed down a sensible naming convention for their apps, (because the name of apps in the store is what held developers back. Wink. Wink).

We are starting to see some movement on Microsoft’s promised future for Windows Slowly but surely. In the last few weeks, the company has been on a tear, dotting their “i’s”  and crossing their “t’s”. That trend continues with the Windows team releasing a preview of (WinJS 4.0). Eager JavaScript developers can get their hands on the preview through GitHub and Microsoft is encouraging those with any issues or feedback to file their request through GitHub as well.

In the previous release of WinJS 3.0, the Windows team focused on browser compatibility. but In this preview, Microsoft is offering the Windows Library for JavaScript 4.0.  However in this preview, the team would like to set the framework for making Windows apps, as well as apps for the web. Much of the preview was a result of the community feedback the Windows team received in critical areas like:
  • Enabling universal experiences – Your customers desire apps that work wherever they do: phones, tablets, PCs, or even the living room TV. Device form factors are constantly evolving to meet people’s needs: users now plug keyboards into tablets to get work done, connect phones to televisions to sit back and browse content, and so forth. WinJS controls make it easy to create responsive apps that not only work across all screen sizes, but with all input methods as well. WinJS controls help you tailor your experience to each device and form factor, so you can focus on making your app great.

  • Playing well with others – WinJS is designed for interoperability. We believe you should use WinJS and your favorite JS frameworks together, whatever they may be. The AngularJS – WinJS wrapper we now provide allows you to use WinJS seamlessly in your Angular projects.

  • Industrial strength ListView- WinJS bolsters your app development with best-in-class controls that don’t cut corners. Our ListView implementation has native performance and supports an extensive set of app scenarios. We’ve continued to add value with new  features like striping, headers and footers, and improved selection.
Some noteworthy adjustments are new Universal Controls. The Windows team have added key controls that shortcut the traditional developing work for adaptive app resizing based on form factor or screen size. They claim this should cut down the work time as well as help app developers deliver a more compelling ‘universal’ experience.

Another is the WinJS flexibility, in regards to SplitView, Toolbar and Listviews in apps. The new WinJS SplitView control allow you to achieve this app behavior and style quickly.

 Windows team says :

"The flexibility and features of this control allow your app to adapt its configuration quickly to the current size of the screen, supporting phones, tablets, PCs, and everything in between, "

Microsoft is looking to have a full-featured release of WinJS 4.0 out later this year. The Windows team is looking forward to having an open source JavaScript library that benefits web developers on any platform.
